Akbar's Palace

Ajmer - Akbar's Palace

Built in 1570 A.D., Akbar's Palace in Ajmer is a small but delightfully ornate fort that was constructed especially for Emperor Akbar who stayed here during his Ajmer tours and pilgrimages.

Two impressive stone walls that surround Akbar's Palace made this fort almost impregnable. Akbar's Palace has an important place in the history of Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. It was here that Sir Thomas Roe of the East India Company and Emperor Jehangir met.

Akbar's Palace was converted into a munitions house during the British occupation of Ajmer. This grand palace was renamed as the 'Rajputana Arsenal'.

A part of Akbar's Palace was converted into a museum in the post independence era. See an amazing display of military armor and weaponry on display at the Akbar's Palace turned museum on your tours to the tourist attractions in Ajmer with Rajasthan Holiday.
