ALWAR - INTRODUCTION
The Alwar district is located to the north-eastern part of Rajasthan. It is 150 km from Jaipur and 170 Km from Delhi. The Alwar district is bounded by Haryana state to the north, Bharatpur district to the east, the Dausa to the south, and Jaipur districts to the west. The total area of the Alwar district is 8380 sq. km. It is an important agricultural district of Rajasthan. The land is irrigated with the help of well and the tube wells. The Alwar district is the centre of both the small scale and the large scale industries. There are fifteen industrial areas developed by RIICO. ALWAR - HISTORY AND LEGENDS
“Ulwar” is the former name of “Alwar”.
Pratap Singh, a Rajput was the founder of the princely
state of Alwar in the second half of 18th century. In
1803, after the battle of Laswari, Alwar became the
first state to sign a treaty with the British East India
Company. In the revolt of 1857, Raoraja Bane Singh sent
a force to fight against the Brutish rulers, but they
were defeated.
Alwar was merged with the other princely states of Karauli,
Bharatpur and Dholpur as the State of Matsya. Latter,
the name Matsya was renamed as Alwar.
