Located at a distance of 22 miles north of Bharatpur, Deeg is a small town and a renowned tourist trail of Rajasthan contains delicate bliss palaces. The palaces of Deeg were built in the mid 1700s renowned as a refuge from the battles of Bharatpur rulers. Surajmal, the worthy son of Badansingh erected the strong citadel with towering walls and fortress of Deeg Palace slightly later in 1730 A.D. After Surajmal’s death his son Jawahar Singh (1764 – 68 AD) finished several palaces counting the Suraj Bhawan and gave final touch to the gardens and fountains.
