JAIPUR - CLIMATE AND LOCATION

Climate
The climate of India usually remains hot and humid in the summer season and chilly in the winter season. In the summer season (April to July) the temperature reaches to a maximum of around 45ºC. While in the winter season, the scenario becomes quite different. In the winter season, the days are pleasant and nights are severely cold. The temperature reaches sometimes below 5ºC, mostly during the nights. The fog envelops the city of Jaipur in the evening during the winter season. The monsoon strikes the city in the third or fourth week of July. The best time to trip to Jaipur is during the winter season.

Location
Jaipur is located in the Northern part of India. Jaipur extends from 26.55º latitude and 75.52º longitudes in the east. Jaipur is located around 258 km from Delhi. Jaipur is located in the biggest state of India, which is Rajasthan. The city of Jaipur is surrounded by the districts of Alwar and Sikar to the north, Sawai and Tonk to the south, Nagaur to the west and Dausa to the east. Most of the state is covered with desert, but the city of Jaipur is protected from the rough desert by the Aravalli Hills.

JAIPUR - HISTORY AND LEGENDS

Sawai Jai Singh
In 1727, Maharaja Jai Singh II founded the city of Jaipur. We was a Rajput ruler who ruled from 1699 – 1744. He thought to shift his capital from Amber to Jaipur, because of the increasing population and scarcity of water. The city of Jaipur was the first planed city of India. With a proper strategic plan the construction of the city of Jaipur was started in the year 1927. The construction of the major palaces, roads took almost around four years. The city of Jaipur was divided into nine blocks. Out of these nine blocks, seven blocks were allotted to general public of the city and the rest two blocks were meant for the state buildings and palaces. The city got its name as the “pink city”, when the Prince of Wales visited Jaipur. The whole city was painted in pink to offer him a warm welcome. The rich culture and the historical values of the splendid city have never failed to allure the travelers, since time immortal.
