Jaisalmer - Salim Singh Ki Haveli
Rajasthan Holiday promises an adventure filled trip to the fascinating Salim Singh ki haveli located towards the eastern end of Jaisalmer city.
Salim Singh ki haveli gets its name from that of a famous and cunning statesman Salim Singh, who was an inseparable part of Jaisalmer royal court during the reign of Maharwal Mool Raj.
The haveli was constructed on the remains of an early 17th century mansion and was occupied by the Mohta family who served the Jaisalmer royal court as court ministers for generations. The haveli was commissioned to Salim Singh after he was appointed as the prime minister at the regal court.
A massive life size elephant sculpted to perfection greets you at the main gateway to Salim Singh ki haveli. Admire the blue cupolas and sculpted peacocks that adorn this exquisite haveli. There are 38 Jharoka balconies that protrude from the main building akin to a giant ship's prow and thus the nickname 'Jahaz mahal'.
Beautiful murals and ornate frescoes decorate the walls of Salim Singh ki haveli, pillared halls and massive rooms transport you into an era of grandiose luxury.
Rajasthan Holiday takes you to this exotic haveli that is one of the many glittering gems on the regal Rajasthan crown.
