Mandore a major tourist attraction of Rajasthan placed
at a distance of just 8 kms north of Jodhpur. Mandore
was the capital of the Marwar area and went under the
name of Mandavyapur during the time from 6th to 14th
century. This historic town Mandore once hosted several
ancient monuments and forts of significance. The forts
of Mandore were constructed by thick walls of substantial
size having several stages. The forts are regarded
as the finest example of architectural style and grandeur.
The Mandore forts are now completely collapsed and
in a ruined condition having no evidence of their existence.
Even the boundary walls have destroyed entirely on
the onslaught of time chiefly by the invaders and natural
calamities. A huge, now ruined temple is the underline
of the fort. The outer wall of the temple adorned with
translucently carved botanical devises, birds, animals
and planets. Today, the Mandore Garden situates on
old capital of Marwar looks delightfully fragile and
thus visited by nationwide tourist.
