The history of the historical place, Kota has been very old. In the 12th century the Hada chief, Rao Deva founded Bundi and Hadoti. In the 12th century, both Bundi and Kota came under the rule of Chauhans. The great Mugal Emperor, Jahangir partitioned Bundi and made Kota an independent state in 1624. Later, in the early 17th century he made Madho Singh, the ruler of Kota. Madho Singh is the son of Rao Ratan. Thus, kota became an independent state.
