Nagaur the famous city of Rajasthan is the administrative headquarters of Nagaur district. It lies about midway between Jodhpur and Bikaner and was founded by Naga Kshatriyas. It is also known as the village Khatwan. The foundation of the city dates back to the 4th century BC and Nagas were originally the rulers of this place. In 7th century onwards the Chauhans became the overlords and was included in Sapadalaksha. Later on it was captured by Muslims and exploited the city for its possessions. The city of Nagaur is famous for its various forts and temples. Nagaur has a dry climate with a hot summer. Sand storms are very common and the best season to visit this place is from November to March. Nagaur is also famous for its marble industry that generates the big revenues for the state. The nearest Airport to Nagaur is Jodhpur which is 135 km and Jaipur is 293 km. Nagaur is connected with Jodhpur, Bikaner and Delhi Jaipur via Merta Road. Regular buses operate from Nagaur to Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur and Delhi.
