The Bank of Rajasthan is one of the leading Private Sector banks, which can be found throughout the entire state of Rajasthan. Its branches can be found all over India also. It was on 8th of May, 1943 on the auspicious occasion of "Akshya Tritiya" the Bank of Rajasthan was established. Late Shri Rai Bahadur P.C. Chatterji, the then finance minister of Mewar Government played a leading role in the establishment of the Bank. The Bank of Rajasthan was initially started with a capital of Rs. 10 lakhs only. Late Shri Govind Ram Seksaria was the then chairman of the Bank.
In 1948, the Bank of Rajasthan was put into the schedule by the Reserve Bank of India. On 5th of August 1960, the Bank of Rajasthan opened its first mobile branch in Jaipur. This Bank became one of the first banks to sponsor any rural Bank. On 26th of January, 1983, the first Rural Bank was established is the Mewar Anchilik Gramin Bank in Udaipur district in Rajasthan.
