To make the service of the Rajasthan Police more effective, it was separated into two units namely the Armed Police and the Civil Police. Currently, the total strength of Rajasthan Police force is 70,000. The entire Police force is headed by the Director General of Police. There are eight police zones in
Rajasthan. Each zone is supervised by Inspector General of Police. There are 711 police stations, 172 circles and 788 out-post in Rajasthan. There are also Women Police in Rajasthan who deals with women related cases. Some of them are dowry, rape, immoral trafficking of the teen girls and women etc. The first Mahila Police Station was set up at Jaipur in March, 1989.
