Bijolia a fortified town of Bhilwara is known for its both ruined and standing temples of ancient past. Sited just 85 kms from Bhilwara, Bijolia was the hub of religious activity from the 11th century to 13th century. Undeshwar temple is the intricately carved temple having rich carving walls, pillars and ceilings within the temple. The two more temples have also accountable in making the Bijolia a temple spot of Rajasthan. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the Ganesha temple is the unique attraction of Bijolia, for its central shikhar (dome) surrounded by four chatris (pavilions) on each corner of the roof. A figurine of Ganesha protects the entrance to the temple.
Bijolia is a place of ruined temples, and inscriptions. From inscriptions rescued from ruined temples, it comes to light that Bijolia was greatly inspired by Ajmer style architecture. The design of these temples and the patterns are analytic of the Digambar sect of Jainsim. Five Jain temples including the Paraswanath are the fantastic architectural examples of 11th century Jain structural design.
