Ghateshwara Temple, Badoli



Badoli, a small village located near the Pratap Sagar Dham is the most amazing temple complex of Rajasthan. The temple complex, Badoli, comprise of nine temples which were the construction of 9th century A.D. The most important temple is the Ghateshwara Mahadev temples which remain protected by a walled enclosure. Badoli sited just 48 kms from Kota and thus visiting Ghateshwara Temple has become smooth and convenient by the devotees. Ghateshwara TempleThe temple of Ghateshwara is not a massive structure as that of the temples of Khajuraho but its architectural magnetism can easily be compared with that. The Ghateshwara temple is mostly visited for generously festooned portal, ceiling and the ornamental roof with images of Shiva and celestial fairies as audience. The famous battle between the demons named andhaka and Chamunda with Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar has richly embedded in stone wall of the temple. There also engrossed the glorious victory of lord Shiva with his dance tandav on the wall face. The posture of dancing Shiva along with an audience of Brahma, Vishnu and a host of other figures of mythology are superbly absorbed there at the entrance of temple arena.
