The major landmark in Jodhpur is the Mehrangarh Fort, which features amongst one of the three great hilltop forts of Rajasthan. Located in the heart of the city of Jodhpur the fort was originally built in 1806. The alluring architecture of the fort ensures that every tourist in the city visits the fort.

Close to the fort is the Jaswant Thada, a white marble cenotaph that was built in 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.

Then there is the 20th century Umaid Bhavan Palace also popularly known as the Chittar Palace. Now a heritage hotel/ museum and residence of the royal family it boasts of 300 rooms, theatre, eight dining rooms, banquet hall, ballroom and an indoor swimming pool.

Amongst the other tourism spots worth visiting in Jodhpur are Clock Tower and Sadar Market.

In Mandore the gardens house the royal cenotaphs of the Maharajas like Maharaja Jaswant Singh and Maharaja Ajit Singh. Osian is renowned for the largest group of early Jain and Hindu temples. Surya temple has fascinating images of Durga, Surya and Ganesh is a must visit here.

Built in 1812, Mahamandir is another excursion option from Jodhpur that has a 100-pillared Shiva temple. The Balsamund Lake & Palace of 1159 is another popular excursion option.
